1-IN-10 POETRY: sharing the lived experiences of endometriosis 

Our first published project created by the endometriosis community, for the endometriosis community. 

​

Written and illustrated by 64 people living with endometriosis, this poetry book delves into first hand accounts of living with the condition and supporting loved ones who are affected. It covers various themes including (but not limited to) gaslighting, surgery, grief, flare-ups, hope, despair, relationships, diagnosis, advocacy and loss.

This book showcases:

  • 64 contributors

  • 67 poems

  • 28 artworks

  • 166 voices from the lived experiences of an endometriosis survey

  • 100 direct comments from individuals living with endometriosis

10 CHAPTERS: 6 of which delve into themes significant to the endometriosis community, featuring 9 poems and an artwork reflecting on each theme. The remaining 4 chapters highlight our previous projects completed in the last 2 years.

TAKING INSPIRATION FROM IMAGERY: Featuring 13 poems selected by our artists who took part in our 2024 endometriosis campaign.

POETRY PROMOTS AND JOURNALING: Offering 10 creative exercises to inspire your own poetry writing.

CURRENT ENDOMETRIOSIS RESEACH: Presenting the outcomes of the lived experiences of endometriosis and the impact that this community has accessing healthcare and support within the community.

DIRECT QUOTES from the endometriosis community, sharing advice to the next generation, examples of how to improve medical interactions, and recounting interactions with medical professionals.
